History – Subject information
At Westcott Primary, our history vision is to:
- Give children a long-lasting love and passion for history by providing knowledge, developing understanding of concepts and making links.
- To inspire pupils’ curiosity to know more about the past and give children a good understanding of chronology.
- To understand how and why the world, our country, culture and locality have developed over time.
- To enable children to understand how the past influences the present and why it is relevant to their own lives.

Year 5 have been looking at primary and secondary sources in history today. We played a game of broken telephone to illustrate how different sources can be interpreted in different ways. #westcotthistory
6MG are historians! We looked at different sources of evidence about the civilisation of Baghdad. We then shared what we had found out and decided if each source was primary or secondary and how reliable they were. #WestcottHistory
